Just Believe: Is it really that simple?

Walking with Christ day by day is a journey. It all starts with a step toward faith. It takes faith to walk a path that we can't fully see. If we allow Him, He will direct our steps.



Ephesians 3:14-21

For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord's holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge- that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.
Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within- us, to him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.

Read that line again..."Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine." He is the ONE at work. He is the One who moves within you, my friend. All that He asks of you is to believe. Is it really that simple? Yes, yes, yes! Christ dwells in our hearts through faith. (v.15) No need to complicate things. No need to muscle through things. No need to strive and grasp!


Does this mean we do nothing?

Maybe that is the wrong question. Maybe it is not about the doing, or not doing. Maybe it is about the attitude of your heart in the doing. Maybe it involves a shift in your thinking and a shift deep in your soul. A shift to surrender. Maybe it involves stepping apart from all the noise of this world. Come down from the throne that you have created of your life and let God whisper His love to your heart so that you "can be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God."


At other times, being rooted and established in love, we need to move. We need to pack up our bags and go to Egypt like Moses did, not knowing where he would land, or how long it would take. Or, we need to get busy building that ark in our backyard on a bright beautiful sun filled day because the rain is coming!


I am learning day by day to wait on the Lord more and more. He is never late. His plan cannot be rushed. Striving takes us nowhere. Does His plan unfold according to my faith? Or, does His plan unfold regardless of my faith? Maybe, some of both.


Life is far sweeter when we live surrendered. When we approach life with a heart of trust, with faith, and a reliance on Him who is able, we let His power to work through us to accomplish His will and purposes. His love surpasses all knowledge.


First Step of the Journey


The first step on this journey is to take the time to be still. Still enough to listen. He is whispering to your heart. Can you hear Him? Do you want to join him in the dance?


Be Still....Listen....Trust....Believe


It really is that simple.
