His Name is Yahweh
To everything there is a season,
A time for every purpose under heaven…
A time to keep silence,
And a time to speak.
Ecclesiastes 3:1 & 7b
Winter is in the air today. The leaves of gold, red and orange cast off the trees quickly as the north wind blows in. Change is quickly upon us.
I love the autumn season; the colors, the flavors, and mostly, the pumpkins. I love pumpkins!
The Bible tells us in Ecclesiastes, that there is a time for everything. The seasons prove this.
It has been a very long time since I have sat myself down to write. Honestly, I do not write until I feel the Holy Spirit prompting and nudging me to do so.
For the past 8 months, it has been a season of study. I have gone deep into His Word and have uncovered many treasures there. I have felt like His hand has been upon my mouth (or pen) and His whisper to my heart is to keep silent and keep searching. “Seek and you will find” comes to my mind often.
Along with this season of study, it has been a season of busy! A new grandson, huge garden upgrade, more and more scratch made cooking along with implementing additional new things to clean up our diets. And as always, making time to invest in my family remains my top priority.
As the winds of winter blow in, another wind of change has also blown into our lives. Rich’s, the food plant that my husband has worked at for over 20 years, is closing down. This change feels sharp and abrupt in the same way that fall turned to winter today here in Minnesota. The final closing date for the plant is vague and keeps changing, which leaves us in limbo. The doors will close sometime this winter and this season of work will be finished.
I am hopeful of new things to come. We have no idea what this will be, but my hope is for something far less stressful for my hard working husband.
Every time that my thoughts turn dark and I am tempted to let worry take hold, Yahweh sends me a “God wink.” (something that reminds me that He is right there with me) For me, this often looks like a heart shaped surprise (like a heart shaped potato in the middle of a sack of potatoes),or a rainbow splashed on the wall that has never been there before, or a message in a song at just the right time. My heart soars and my faith deepens every single time.
Yahweh is faithful, so very faithful!
Did you know that His name is Yahweh? (not God or Lord) His true name, Yahweh was removed from our Bible in almost 7,000 places and was replaced with God and Lord. The word Lord is actually a variation on the name of Baal. A very long time ago Rome paid translators to make this change for a host of reasons, all too much to include here.
Jesus, whose name is Yeshua, taught us to pray in Matthew 6. He told us to say, Hallowed be thy name. Hallowed means holy, sacred and consecrated. Names are important to Yahweh. He changed people’s names in the Bible when their hearts changed, like Saul to Paul.
“A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches.” ~Proverbs 22:1
In Jeremiah 16:21 when Yahweh restores Israel, it says this, “Therefore behold, I will cause them to know, I will cause them to know My hand and My might; and they shall know that my name is Yahweh.”
And again in Hosea 2,:16-17 “And it shall be, in that day, says Yahweh that you will call Me, ‘My Husband,’ and no longer call Me ‘My Master,’ for I will take from her mouth the names of Baals, and they shall be remembered by their name no more.”
Pray with me…
Heavenly Father, Yahweh,
Holy is Your name. We turn to You as so many winds of change blow in. We cling to You as this world continues to shake, and “wars and rumors of war” fill our ears and hearts with fear.
Teach us to call You Husband, not Master. There is a huge difference there. Teach us to know You. Give us a hunger for Your Word. Holy Spirit stir in us a desire to understand it.
Protect us from evil as we call on Your Name. Guide our steps and sanctify our lives, more and more everyday. All for Your glory.
In Yeshua’s Name, we pray.
