The Dance

Faith is a journey of trust...day by day. It is living in a place where His yoke is easy and His burden is light, but only as we surrender our will to His can the dance begin.

Matthew 11:25-30

“At that time Jesus declared, "I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to little children; yes, Father, for such was your gracious will. All things have been handed over to me by my Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him. Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light."

Morning by morning, taking time to sit quiet with God becomes a habit. A habit that is precious and sweet. Sitting at His feet and seeking His heart stirs something deep inside. His love abides gently there with us. His Word speaks to our souls and His love fills our hearts. As our prayers lift up to Heaven, they never return void. Sometimes, the answer is long in coming, but come it does. Sometimes, the answer is, yes, and the door opens wide. Other times, the answer is no and the door closes before we can even get near it.

Moment by Moment

Faith is a journey of trust...day by day. All we have is the moment. We can only live one breath at a time. We can't have anything back that is past and we can't jump ahead to anything in the future. We live and breathe through life, moment by moment with the breath that He gives us.

Faith that surrenders brings sweet relief to the weary, and calm to the stressed soul. It lays down all of our expectations, desires, and works. It is to see above and beyond the things of this world. It is to dwell where his yoke is easy and His burden is light.

Seek First His Kingdom

Faith is choosing to seek Him, see Him, and trust Him each moment of our lives. It is living in His presence, hearing His voice and following His lead. He promises to be with us and never let go. To embrace this truth is to find freedom.

A dance of trust becomes the outcome

Life is like a beautiful dance. When we trust Him, we hold our Savior's hands and he gently, swiftly twirls us around the dance floor. However, there are times that we sit with our hands tightly grasped in our lap on a chair in the corner of the dance floor. We refuse to dance. We have our own agenda in mind. We sit stubbornly in the corner. Life is miserable there. We sit lonely, cold and afraid.

Day by day, the dance plays out. Somedays you swirl and twirl and move freely. Other days you lose your step and fall. Somedays you lean in and let Him lead ever so gently and your moves feel effortless. There are other days when you try to take the lead and the dance becomes difficult. The movement does not flow or feel easy. When you are fighting for control to lead, it never works. It is the way of the clumsy. You lose your step and lose the flow.

Day by day, we must learn the dance of surrender. For out of it comes joy and anticipation of all that He has prepared for us.

Take His hand, lean into Him. Let Him twirl you around and around! Experience the freedom of surrender as He delights to lead you, step by step.
