As If

Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ. 2 Corinthians 10:5
Take captive EVERY thought. Sounds simple, so hard to do.
Sometimes thoughts come like arrows and pierce our hearts. We recall something dumb we said or something that we did. Or, we think about something that we should have said or done in a situation, but did not. We can play out different scenarios over and over in our head. It starts with one simple thought and quickly develops into self sabotage.
Self sabotage over the course of time leads you to believe that you have no value. It leaves you empty and paralyzed. You see yourself as deeply flawed and worthless. Eventually you become what you believe. These types of thoughts are lies. Lies that have been slung at you like sticky, wet mud. They stick right to your heart and soul like mud dried to cement on a hot summer's day. They come from a dark place; a place that you do not belong!
It all starts with one thought. This is why the Lord instructs us to take captive EVERY thought. He knows what our brain is capable of doing if we let it run wild.
I have been working to take captive my thoughts for years. Change comes slow. Change takes time. I don't think the work is ever done while we are in this earthly tent. But, now more than ever, it is time to call out truth and bring attention to what we are thinking about.
It is time to see yourself "AS IF"
AS IF you are a child of God, dearly loved and held in His love....
"You are a child of God. You are wonderfully made, dearly loved and precious in His sight." ~Psalm 1:39
AS IF you have value that is uniquely your own....
"For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." ~Ephesians 2;10
AS IF all the dumb things that you have said and done are washed out to the Sea of the Past and sank straight to the bottom...
"As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us." ~Psalm 103:`12
AS IF our sins are blotted out and remembered no more...
"I, even I, am he who blots out your transgressions, for my own sake, and remembers your sins no more..." ~Isaiah 43:25
AS IF you are chosen and appointed to bear fruit...
"You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit- fruit that will last." ~John 15:16
When lies come and self sabotage starts to pierce your heart and mind, move quick to put up your AS IF Shield to block the flaming arrows of your enemy.
Choose to see yourself as God sees you...whole, complete, lacking nothing.
"The LORD is my shepherd, I lack nothing. ~Psalm 23:1
Prayer
Heavenly Father, God of grace,
Forgive us when we let our minds go rampant and out of control. Wash over us with your cleansing Spirit and make us white as the winter snow. Set our minds on thoughts that are pure, right and true. Free us from self sabotage! Give us eyes to see ourselves AS IF we are your children; dearly loved, whole, complete and lacking nothing. In Jesus Name
