Less Striving

"For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will save it. What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, and yet lose or forfeit their very soul? Luke 9:24
What does it mean to lose your life for Christ? What is this life that is loosed?
Simple Choice
Could it be that it is just a simple choice to stop striving for the things of this world? Fear drives us to strive. We fear not having enough. We fear failure, so we work harder. We fear rejection, so we live without boundaries and become what others expect us to become. We fear not having everything we need, so we hold back from giving to those who have less. If we let it, fear drives our lives.
Maybe the life we need to lose is the life of striving. Maybe we need to stop following the pack on social media and stop doing all the things you think you have to do to. Shift your thinking a bit. Put aside what you expect and believe about your life and what it should be. Let God whisper to you what He intends.
His still, small voice calls
Try shifting from working in your own strength and power and spend time to listen to that still, small voice. This voice contradicts all that the world says about you and your life. It calls you to leave your man made throne to stand on a mountain of trust that calls out freedom, security and hope.
Fear Not
Be brave, step away from the noise, my friend. Spend time at His feet. Cry out for His grace to lead you into the life that He has for you. Don't succumb to the lies that fear screams out at you while you stand on this mountain of trust.
